Meet the team

Our team aims to support Deaf people with cancer or Deaf carers who look after others with cancer. We provide support and advocacy services to those who need it. This includes help for Deaf peer support groups.

Niki

Macmillan Deaf Cancer Support Project Manager

After joining Self Help UK, Niki designed the original Deaf Cancer Support project funded by Macmillan 4 years ago. Niki believes passionately in equality for Deaf people to have the same access to healthcare and information. Fluent in BSL.

Susie

Macmillan Deaf Cancer Support Advocacy Officer

Susie joined Self Help UK in April 2022 as the Advocacy Officer. She has over 20 years knowledge of advocacy. Susie will try to help you to get the right support or communication access and can help with some benefits. Fluent in BSL.

Louise

Macmillan Deaf Cancer Support Referral Administrator

Louise joined Self Help UK in April 2022 as the Referral Administrator. She is the first face that people will see. Louise will help determine what support is needed. She will also help with any queries by signposting to suitable resources. Fluent in BSL.

Claire

Macmillan Deaf Cancer Peer Support Group Development Officer

Claire joined Self Help UK in April 2022 as the Peer Support Group Development Officer. Claire has lived experience and knowledge of cancer. She wants the same access for all cancer users and carers by providing support, information and signposting. Fluent in BSL.
